What is a National Executive Committee decision?

This article is an 'executive decision' which has been written by the RMT National Executive Committee. The National Executive is the union's governing body in between AGMs. Its decisions set out what the union will do on a particular issue.

These decisions can often be brief, and may be one of several passed over a period of time. To get a better understanding or find out more information about what the RMT is doing, speak to your rep or attend your branch or Regional Council meeting.

LU Job Cuts - Enhanced AFM Functionality

*** Please note that RMT has not yet been able to officially declare the boycott referred to in this decision. ***

RMT General Grades Committee decision, 10 February:

Further to our decision on 7 January 2011, we have consulted our representatives on the LU Stations and Revenue Control Council and the LU Stations and Revenue Control Health & Safety Council, and note that they unanimously agree that this union should instruct members to boycott London Underground’s proposed Enhanced AFM Functionality, under our existing ballot mandate for action short of strikes in our dispute about London Underground job cuts.

We agree to inform the TSSA of this, and to table it for discussion at the meeting of our two unions on Monday 14 February, with the aim that both unions act together on this.

We instruct the General Secretary to brief our stations and revenue control representatives in a meeting and in writing of how this boycott will work, and to ensure that representatives and officers are available to support members in carrying out the boycott.

This matter to be placed back in front of us in time for formal notice to be served of this industrial action, to commence on the date of LU’s implementation of the Enhanced AFM Functionality.

We link the file on this matter with the file Job Cuts - London Underground.
