Bakerloo detrainment dispute - important points for drivers.

Industrial action for a safer detrainment procedure on the Bakerloo starts Tuesday 15th of January until further notice. All trains going into sidings or depots should be physically detrained to ensure no overcarries.

Some important points to remember:

• Always be in the correct position at the correct time for your pick up.

• If you are the relieving driver, inform the driver you are relieving that you will be physically detraining as per industrial action to ensure no overcarries.

• If you are already on the train and the train is terminating, inform the controller / signaller that you will be physically detraining as per industrial action to ensure no overcarries. Shut down, take your hand-held radio and hi-vi and detrain.

• If staff are on the platform detraining then all well and good. This is safe and what we want to obtain from this industrial action.

• In the event that you are asked for a memo by management, just write that you were ‘acting upon a instruction from your union regarding industrial action.’

Both unions have democratically balloted their members and in both cases returned a result in favour of action to have a safer detrainment procedure on the Bakerloo. We ask all drivers to respect this democratic process and carry out the industrial action.

The current system that allows young children to wander around the sheds, encourages tourists to chase after trains into the sidings to retrieve left luggage and allows over 3000 incidents of overcarries per year is simply 'not fit for purpose’ and unsafe.

Bar the usual one or two drivers who would rather save a minute than work safely, support for this action is solid.

REMEMBER - this action is to continue until further notice.

Together united we can win a safer system of work.
