I have received reports that agency workers employed by Trainpeople.co.uk engaged on Grand Central Railways and London Underground’s Bakerloo Line contracts have not been paid for the second month running and have been excluded from the Agency Worker Regulations by Trainpeople.co.uk, who are using the Swedish derogation contract model to employ our members.

Staff Assisting Members Of The Public With Luggage

Following on from an incident, can we remind staff that they should take extra care if they help members of the public with their luggage.

It is not in your job description. We are not porters. We don't have handling training, and most importantly, if you get injured, it will NOT go down as an accident on duty and you could receive a warning (as what happened in the quoted incident).

Rule book 12, emergency response to power failure - “Where a station has more than one OLBI, it might not be needed to shut the whole station to customers. If any part of the station which is not covered by the defective OLBI can be closed to customers, then the rest of the station may be able to remain open”.

London Underground Service Control Members To Take 72 Hour Strike Action

The strike is now off, and the dispute settled, following successful negotiations

I write to advise branches that the recent ‘Yes’ vote in the above ballot has now been considered by the General Grades Committee and has made the following decision:-

“In accordance with the wishes of our service control representatives and members, we instruct members to take industrial action as follows:

  • not to book on for any duties starting after 19:00 on Sunday 1st July 2012, returning to duties starting after 19:00 on Wednesday 4th July 2012

RMT Rebuts 'Perverse Misinterpretation' Of Olympic Deal By London Underground

"We will not accept London Underground reneging on our agreement nor any other organisation"

We note the correspondence from London Underground, which poses a perverse misinterpretation of the agreement we reached at ACAS, and which has been circulated widely to LU train drivers by ASLEF. We instruct the General Secretary to reply to this letter, giving a detailed rebuttal of its contents, and to circularise this reply to our representatives.

We note the General Secretary’s efforts to arrange an immediate return to ACAS to enforce our agreement.

Service Control Dispute Meeting To Discuss Options Following Ballot For Industrial Action

Due to the current dispute and the ballot results coming back with a resounding yes we are holding an emergency meeting to discuss what you want management to concede to settle this dispute.

What future protection, guarantees and job options do you want agreed from LU?

Also we need you to decide what industrial action you as the member think is suitable to take if this doesn't happen as the ballot has now given us the legal grounding to do so.

Bakerloo Driver Victimization Case Resolved

We note the report from our Bakerloo Line branch secretary, advising that this matter has now been resolved to the satisfaction of Brother Protheroe and his representatives.

We thank the branch for its prompt and effective actions on this case, and agree with the branch secretary that without a strong trade union position on this matter, LU may have reverted to type with their previous policies of victimising RMT reps and activists.

London Transport Regional Council and branches to be advised.

RMT Reiterates Concerns As LU Plan To Use Minimally Trained Staff To keep Stations Open During The Olympics

We instruct the General Secretary to make preparation for a ballot for industrial action short of strikes

We note that London Underground intends to count ‘Incident Customer Service Assistants’ towards minimum numbers for station staffing, despite the fact that these are not station staff and have minimal training. This union reaffirms our opposition to this, and notes that we are already in dispute with LUL about this matter, which has been referred to ACAS.
