News, reports and information for RMT members who work for London Underground Ltd
Latest information from RMT Service Control.
RMT reps at the Fit for the Future Joint Working Party have raised our opposition to this process. There is no agreement with any trade union to proceed with these development events. However, LU has imposed this process as it starts to implement Fit for the Future while refusing to enter into meaningful negotiations.
The RMT's Trains Health and Safety council (THSC) have responded to an incident today which saw masonry fall onto the track at Mile End on the Central line.
The council is seeking further information on what could have been a very serious incident, and have written to LUL bosses for further details.
The Letter
Could you supply us with all the information you have on today's incident at Mile End Station. We gather that lumps of masonry, as large as a dot matrix, fell approx 10ft from the station roof to the track at the W/B starter.
In the July edition of Bakerloo News:
from RMT Acting General Secretary Mick Cash
Further to my last letter, I am pleased to advise you that ACAS talks to resolve this dispute have resulted in real progress. This matter has now been considered by the General Grades Committee which has decided to suspend all industrial action in this dispute with immediate effect and therefore you are instructed to work normally.
ACTION SUSPENDED
WITHDRAWAL OF REST DAYS - TUBE LINES – JUBILEE LINE
As you know, members voted in favour of industrial action over the withdrawal of rest days by Tube Lines management on the Jubilee Line Permanent Way. Members were instructed to take industrial action short of a strike in the form of taking official meal breaks whilst on duties from Midnight tonight.
WHERE
Venue: Old Palace Yard, Westminster, SW1P 3JY
DETAILS
Urgent: Demonstration tomorrow in solidarity with ISS cleaners
09.00 Tuesday 8th July Old Palace Yard (opposite Parliament)
You will be aware that we are still in dispute with ISS over their plans to impose a Biometric Fingerprinting system to book on for duty. We had reached agreement that the company would allow the old booking on system for two weeks while we continued to talk. These talks have unfortunately failed to reach agreement.
As you may be aware our power control room members are currently taking industrial action. This action started at 20.00hrs on July 1st and is scheduled to run until the 20.00hrs on July 15th.
The Train’s Safety Council met with management prior to earlier planned action by these workers to discuss how this would impact on the safety of drivers.
FURTHER STRIKE ACTION CALLED
BREAKDOWN IN INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS – POWER CONTROL OPERATORS
LONDON UNDERGROUND
Further to my recent letter, you will be well aware that talks have failed to reach agreement with the company. Last week I informed you of the initial strike called to begin from 1st July 2014 and this instruction has now been extended. To confirm, the union’s strike instruction is now as follows: -
Members are instructed no to book on for any shifts between:-
• 20:00 hours on Tuesday 1st July 2014 and 19:59 hours on Tuesday 15th July 2014.
Please see the download showing the number of jobs to be cut under LU's proposals.
The figures are complied by cover area. These are the areas over which cover is organised in the new proposed model. The areas included in each cover area are shown.
Local reps should study these figures and communicate them to all members.
