RMT warns of loss of 1000 cleaning jobs on London Underground and confirms lobby of Parliament

TUBE UNION RMT today warned of a thousand cleaning job losses on London Underground and announced that it will be lobbying Parliament on the 29th of January in support of decent jobs, on decent pay and conditions provided in house and with the cuts axe lifted from above the heads of the cleaning workforce.

In 2017 London Underground again outsourced Tube cleaning; this time on a five year contract to Global Corporation ABM.

Dispute arises as bosses' plan to cut 'train prep' schedule continues

TRAIN PREPARATION SCHEDULE - LONDON UNDERGROUND (LUL/14/10)

Further to my previous Circular (IR/228/18, 10th May 2018), the Company has now been advised that a dispute situation exists over its unacceptable proposal to increase the Fleet train preparation schedule from every 24 hours to every 96 hours. Despite our best efforts, the Company has failed to engage in any meaningful consultation with RMT in line with our agreements and to further exacerbate the situation I understand a trial of the new arrangements is planned for April 2019.

Meeting arranged to discuss Central Line dispute

BREAKDOWN IN INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS, TRAIN OPERATORS, CENTRAL LINE - LONDON UNDERGROUND (LUL/14/2)

Further to my previous Circular (IR/506/18, 21st November 2018) a series of talks with the Company took place at ACAS before Christmas in an effort to seek a resolution to this dispute. There was some movement on the key issues and the National Executive Committee took the decision to suspend the strike action on Friday 21st and Saturday 22nd December 2018.

DUTIES/SHIFT COVERAGE, BAKERLOO SOUTH GROUP - LONDON UNDERGROUND (LUL/14/5)

Further to my previous Circular (IR/561/18, 21st December 2018), the Company has now confirmed that a meeting regarding the review of the Business Needs Schematics will take place with our RMT Reps within the next two weeks and will include all stations within the Bakerloo South Cover Group. A timescale for future meetings will be arranged at this initial meeting.
