Decisions of RMT's Council of Executives, and of RMT's General Grades Committee (the section of the Council of Executives which deals with industrial matters for railway and other non-shipping grades)
RMT General Grades Committee decision:
That we are disgusted by London Underground’s refusal to reinstate Eamonn Lynch despite the obvious injustice of his dismissal and the success of his Interim Relief application. We seek the views of the Bakerloo branch and refer this matter to our Southern Sub-Committee for examination and report.

RMT's General Grades Committee has agreed a detailed campaign to organise workers in Carlisle Cleaning and Support Services. This is a national campaign, which will initially start outside our Region. However, it is relevant to our Region, as Carlisle holds contracts in London Transport, including TfL/LU secruity staff and Docklands Light Railway cleaners.

We are disgusted to hear that London Underground has summarily dismissed our representative Peter Hartshorn on trumped up charges of swearing at a manager despite witnesses stating otherwise. The alleged incident took place while Peter was carrying out trade union duties and it is clear that the company has victimised him for his activities as a representative of this union.

Following our acceptance of the Company’s pay offer in April 2010, a supplementary offer was tabled by the Company for Station Grades. This has now been considered by the General Grades Committee that has taken the following decision:-
“That we note the report from the Regional Organiser on proposals for a supplementary agreement for Station Assistants and Station Assistant GPRs on LOROL.
RMT General Grades Committee decision:
That we note the memorandum stating that the meeting with the TSSA will be held next Wednesday, 19 January, and are disappointed that the meeting could not be held earlier.
We instruct the General Secretary to place this matter back in front of the GGC on Wednesday 19 January, immediately following the meeting with the TSSA.

That we note the absence of a reply from London Underground on this matter. We instruct the General Secretary to urgently contact the company demanding a reply.
We also seek the views of the relevant branch, Stratford no.1, on how this matter should be pursued, and instruct the General Secretary to place this matter back in front of the GGC once those views have been received.
General Grades Committee decision ...
That we note the report from our Regional Organiser. We agree that the offer from London Underground to our members regarding grade progression is unacceptable, and instruct the General Secretary to conduct a referendum of members in the LU Power Control Room and a referendum of Track Access Controller members, with a recommendation in both cases to reject the company’s offer. We instruct the General Secretary to send a personal letter to all members in these grades explaining the union’s stance.
Decision from RMT's General Grades Committee
That we note the accounts of the HALT Society and the resolution of our London Taxis branch (12/1/11) calling on us to bring the issue regarding Heathrow Airport Licensed Taxis (HALT) to a satisfactory conclusion for our members by taking the necessary legal action.
We instruct the General Secretary to arrange a meeting as soon as practical with our legal representatives and London Taxis branch officers to pursue this matter.
RMT's General Grades Committee adopted the following report from the Southern Sub-Committee:
Following consultation with our Docklands Light Railway branch, we instruct our members on Serco Docklands to take strike action and action short of strikes in pursuit of our dispute over the breakdown of industrial relations as follows:
Members are instructed not to book on for any shifts commencing from 03:59 on Thursday 20 January until 03:59 on Saturday 22 January.

I write to advise members of the latest situation in our dispute with London Underground over their planned job cuts. Many of you may have today seen the totally false reports made by the BBC that RMT had decided not to call strike action in January. Please be assured that this statement is totally false and your Executive continues to deliberate on the way forward. Nothing has been ruled in or ruled out at this stage.
