Tube Bosses Response At Tube Strike ACAS Talks 'Very Negative'

To all RMT members in London Underground:

This morning myself and senior RMT stations reps met LUL, with the other unions at ACAS.

The first session dealt with Every Job Matters (Fit For Future Stations) We met management face to face and made a strong case for increasing jobs , no worsening of our rosters, protection for medically restricted staff, part timers, displacements, and so on. Essentially for many improvements for all grades effected.

The response was very negative.

"We have made the strong case for a decent deal for night tube and a reasonable pay offer for all staff" - John Leach

The Chief Operating Officer stated no more jobs would be put back, no extra time off for staff working worse rosters or a 32 hour week. We forcefully made our case and we will meet again tomorrow to see if the company will see sense and radically alter it's stance.

In the afternoon our all grades negotiating team of RMT reps and myself and our NEC member met with LUL and with ACAS to further discuss Pay and night tube. No new offer was made. The C.O.O reiterated that there would be no extra time off or increased offer and that staff work 24/7 and can work these shifts under current agreements - they cant!

We have made the strong case for a decent deal for night tube and a reasonable pay offer for ALL STAFF ..and we need extra staff to cover it.

We have adjourned those talks until next week. Hopefully in that time the company can see sense and make a much improved offer that is decent and fair to all staff.

When I have further news will update you.

Thanks, John Leach
