RMT demands withdrawal of unsafe proposals to remove front-line call point staff on Tube

REMOVAL OF FRONT-LINE CALL POINT TECHNICIANS - LONDON UNDERGROUND (LUL/14/5)

Further to my previous Circular (IR/036/24, 29th January 2024), I wrote to LUL to demand the immediate withdrawal of its unsafe proposals to remove front-line call point staff across all LUL lines. Management has now proposed again to reduce the call point establishment from 72 to 48, including the complete closure of half of all call point locations. The proposals would reduce coverage to 12 hours a day and put additional stress onto Train Operator and Station Staff members left to deal with service breakdowns as a result of stalled or out of service trains.

The associated reduction in headcount falls under our long-running dispute to Defend Jobs and I have written to LUL to demand an urgent dispute resolution meeting over this matter.

I will keep Branches advised of all further developments.

Yours sincerely,

Eddie Dempsey
