ISS, Initial And Carlisle Cleaning & Security Members To Take Industrial Action

Circular from General Secretary Bob Crow
IMPROVING PAY & CONDITIONS – CARLISLE CLEANING & SECURITY (DOCKLANDS LIGHT RAILWAY) (DLR/10/1)

I write to advise branches that following the recent yes vote in favour of industrial action, the company agreed to a seven day extension to our ballot and further talks took place. However no agreement has been reached, the General Grades Committee has now considered this matter and has taken the following decision: -

“We note our Regional Organiser’s report, and the failure of the employer to meet the just demands of our security, travelsafe and cleaning members on this contract. We instruct all members on this contract to:

  • take industrial action short of strike action by working to rule on Wednesday 28 November
  • take strike action by not booking on for any duties starting at or after 05:30 on Thursday 29 November and to return to duties starting at or after 05:30 on Saturday 1 December.

We further instruct the General Secretary to:

  • send a personal letter by post to all members involved, explaining this action.
  • email our members on Serco Docklands, urging their support for this action.

Any developments to be placed in front of us.

We refer to the Council of Executives the issue of payments from the Disputes Fund for these members. Regional Councils and branches to be advised.”

This matter was subsequently again considered by the General Grades Committee for clarification, and has taken the following decision:-

“Further to our decision earlier today, we clarify our industrial action instruction as follows

We instruct our members on this contract to take industrial action short of strike action by not reporting for duty until their official start time, fur duties starting between 00:01 and 23:59 on Wednesday 28th November.

The strike action starting on Thursday 29 November is as stated in our previous decision.

London Transport Regional Council and branches to be advised”

I am currently acting in accordance with the above decision.
