Ballot Papers Go Out For Night Tube & Pay Strike
  • Ballot papers for Pay & Night Tube industrial action will be sent out to you all on Tuesday 16th June and the closing date for this ballot will be Tuesday 30th June 2015.
  • All LUL unions are in dispute.
  • A huge ‘YES’ vote from you and your colleagues in favour of taking industrial action is crucial to make sure the Company continues discussions with RMT and meets our demands for a fair deal.

As members will be aware, RMT submitted a claim to London Underground for a substantial increase in rates of pay and improvements to conditions of service. Following a series of meetings, the offer received from the Company consists of a 0.75% increase effective 1st April 2015 and an RPI increase in 2016. Also included, in return for the future operation of Night Tube, is a non-consolidated lump sum payment for all COO and CPD Operational Staff to be paid at two stages of £250, making £500 in total. Train Drivers and Track and Signals staff only would be offered a further £250 for Night Tube running.

Your RMT negotiating team has advised London Underground that this offer is completely unacceptable for a number of reasons, which are as follows:-

  • The below inflation pay rise in year one as well as a no strike deal
  • Increased unsociable hours – weekend and night working
  • An end to any meaningful work/life balance for members
  • Reduced maintenance time
  • Removing/diluting our hard won negotiated agreements

You are being asked to deliver Night Tube and your reward for doing so is a derisory and divisive one-off bonus payment that is not consolidated into pay and a two year pay deal which is below the rate of inflation and in effect, a pay cut in real terms.

The General Grades Committee has now taken the decision to advise the Company that a dispute situation exists between us and to ballot all London Underground members for industrial action. I urge you all to VOTE ‘YES’ for strike action and action short of a strike to show the Company, the Mayor and the Government that we will not accept the imposition of Night Tube which, along with 900 job losses, will lead to even more intolerable working conditions, unsociable hours and rosters that will destroy your work/life balance.

A huge ‘YES’ vote from you and your colleagues in favour of taking industrial action is crucial to make sure the Company continues discussions with RMT and meets our demands for a fair deal for you, which are as follows:-

  • An above inflation pay rise for all members
  • A safe fully staffed tube at all time, including during night running
  • No compulsory increase in night and weekend working
  • A shorter working week to create a work/life balance for members

The ballot papers will be sent out to you all on Tuesday 16th June and the closing date for this ballot will be Tuesday 30th June 2015. Our sister unions are also balloting their members over pay and night tube so all London Underground members will be standing together united on this important issue.

MAKE SURE YOU USE YOUR VOTE
