I am writing to invite you to the conference 'Turkey after the failed coup and the battle for democracy' organised by Solidarity with People of Turkey (SPOT) on Saturday, 29 October 2016 at NUT Headquarters, Hamilton House, Mabledon Place, London, WC1H 9BD.

This is an important and timely conference which aims to give people of Britain an insight into developments in Turkey. The conference will bring many politicians, trade unionists and members of the campaign groups from Britain and Turkey.

PAUL ROBESON - A CELEBRATION OF HIS LIFE AND WORK

Our Black and Ethnic Minority Members' Conference this year passed a resolution calling for an event during Black History Month to mark the 40th anniversary of the passing of the revolutionary Paul Robeson.  Such an event should be “dedicated to educate our members on the history of the role of Robeson and members of the NUR/RMT in the Spanish war against facism.”  

Neasden Branch Meeting change of dates for November and December.

Due to Tottenham Hotspur playing their Champions League games at Wembley Stadium the following Neasden branch meetings have been rescheduled.

The November Branch meeting which was scheduled for Wednesday 2nd will now take place on Thursday 3rd.

The December (Christmas) Branch Meeting which was scheduled for Wednesday 7th will now take place on Friday 9th.

These meetings will take place at the usual venue - The Torch Pub in Wembley Park.

Demo: London living wage for London Transport Museum cleaners and porters!

Cleaners and porters at London Transport Museum are only on the minimum wage of £7.20 an hour, despite workers in the rest of Transport for London being paid at least the London Living Wage of £9.40 an hour. Museum management told local TSSA and RMT reps that they would pay the London Living Wage a year ago but still haven't done so.

Further to my previous Circular (IR/175/16, 22nd June 2016), members will recall the NEC decision to organise a Stations & Revenue Reps to discuss industrial action following the implementation of the “Fit for the Future” programme which is having a detrimental effect of members working lives with serious implications for their work-life balance.
