Ode to a scab - Jack London 1876-1916

Ode To A Scab

After God had finished the rattlesnake, the toad, and the vampire, He had some awful substance left with which He made a scab. A scab is a two-legged animal with a corkscrew soul, a waterlogged brain, and a combination backbone made of jelly and glue. Where others have hearts, he carries a tumor of rotten principles.

Support Petrit Mihaj

Petrit Mihaj v Sodexo

Support campaign to highlight treatment of RMT rep

Petrit Mihaj worked for global outsourcing giant Sodexo for 10 years, working in the catering department on Sodexo's contract with London Underground.

Following helping to organise the workforce, Petrit was subjected to disciplinary action and eventually was dismissed.

The union successfully brought tribunal claims on his behalf, establishing that Petrit had been unfairly dismissed for his trade union activities.

One day training course - recruitment/retention & organising. May 11 & June 1

One day course on recruitment, retention & organising.

As you know the Senior AGS Steve Hedley has made mapping of local areas a focus of RMT recruitment/retention.
It would be hugely beneficial if local reps are able to take up the opportunity to participate on these courses.
We intend to run courses throughout the year and are hoping all local reps/activists are able to take part.
Paid release from the employer should be requested as we have a statutory right for paid training.
Should they refuse the RMT will cover loss of earnings.

Pay talks update

To all RMT members on LUL

Today myself and senior reps met LUL directors to continue our discussions on pay in LUL for 2015.

For 5 hours of talks we forcefully made the case for a decent pay offer and also a good night tube deal for ALL EFFECTED LUL EMPLOYEES.Despite this no new offer was made by the company . The talks have adjourned now and will reconvene next Monday 27th .

Also I have requested the release of all of our reps across LUL in all functions for a report back and discussion on Wednesday 6th May (this has not been agreed by mangment yet)

Reinstate Petrit Mihaj - demo 17/4/15 1130 Sodexo HQ

We are campaigning against victimisation, discrimination, union busting and dismissal of our colleague and union representative Petrit Mihaj.
It’s been over a year since our rep Petrit Mihaj was victimised for his Trade Union (TU) activities and unfairly dismissed as proven in court. (Ref: P Mihaj v Sodexo Ltd)
Our campaign continues into its second year. After many successful demonstrations in 2014 and 2015, The RMT is stepping up this campaign by asking MP’s and candidates in the General Election campaign to stop funding racist and union busting employers.
