ACAS Talks Update

RMT reps have been back at ACAS over the last couple of days, following on from Wednesday's solid strike. ACAS continues to host a review of London Underground's job-cutting plans.

Now, health and safety reps are working on specific scenarios comparing how safety standards would be maintained comparing current staffing levels with the proposed, lower levels. Meanwhile, stations reps have compiled a report that shows that LU figures used to justify ticket office cuts are inaccurate and that therefore the numbers should be revised.

The review will continue on Tuesday.

Tube staff to strike again to defend safety and jobs

Suspend cuts and we will halt strikes, say RMT and TSSA

STRIKE ACTION by more than 11,000 members of RMT and TSSA, the two biggest unions on London Underground, will go ahead tomorrow evening after Tube bosses again failed to suspend their “dangerous and unnecessary” plan to axe 800 safety critical station staff.

Engineering staff will start their third 24-hour strike at 19.00 tomorrow (November 2), while operational staff will not book on for shifts scheduled to start from 21.00. A fourth 24-hour stoppage is scheduled for November 28 and 29.

We are facing a massive attack on public transport in London.

The 800 operational job cuts at London Underground are just the tip of the iceberg - thousands more jobs are at risk across TfL.

And we all know that cutting jobs means cutting services and compromising on safety.

Hands off Peter Hartshorn!

Green Park group Industrial Rep, Peter Hartshorn has come under attack by local management. He faces the trumped up allegation of swearing at a DSM, which could result in a CDI and possible dismissal. In reality, the only thing for which Peter is guilty is being an effective local rep prepared to defend his members and stand up to management bullying and intimidation. Jobs cuts dispute: Talks update and change to industrial action in ex-Metronet grades

Official circular from RMT head office

RMT said today that after this union agreed to take part in talks on the basis proposed by ACAS and LUL Management having welcomed this, LUL then announced that they wished to revise the ACAS terms of reference. Talks are therefore adjourned while we await LUL Management putting their new position in writing.

All this followed LUL’s announcement of further job cuts prior to talks at ACAS.
