RMT Campaign Of Action To Halt Transport Cuts

RMT announces campaign of action to halt 12.5% London Transport cuts

TRANSPORT UNION RMT announced today that it will be mobilising a co-ordinated campaign, up to and including the use of industrial action, to halt massive cuts set to devastate transport services across the capital, smuggled through under the cloak of the Government’s spending review back in June.

Station Supervisors Are Latest Grade Under Attack From Tube Bosses

We note the correspondence from London Underground Ltd and the report from our Regional Organiser. We are totally opposed to LUL’s stated intention to reduce night station supervisor cover, and introduce mobile or remote supervision of stations.

We share our RO’s belief that this is an all-out attempt to de-staff and weaken our agreements for all LUL station grades, which we must resist.

RMT Prepares To Resist Devastating ConDem Cut Of 12.5% To TfL

We note the resolution from our Bakerloo line branch and share its view that the 12.5% funding cut to Transport for London will be devastating. This union is determined to resist this cut and its negative impact on our members, the travelling public, and London's communities. We will pursue this battle with all means at our disposal, up to and including co-ordinated industrial action.

RMT Fully Opposed To Reduction In Supervisor Coverage

We note the correspondence from London Underground Ltd and the report from our Regional Organiser. We are totally opposed to LUL’s stated intention to reduce night station supervisor cover, and introduce mobile or remote supervision of stations. We share our RO’s belief that this is an all-out attempt to de-staff and weaken our agreements for all LUL station grades, which we must resist.

Northern Line Incident 'Critical' As Trains Approach Each Other On Single Track Again

In the latest incident, which happened at 9.50 on Monday morning (22nd July), the driver was given a target speed and proceeded to depart Finchley Central from platform.

He was already in the process of stopping as he had seen another train heading towards him from Mill Hill East as the Line Control emergency call to stop came through.

The driver was forced to carry out a wrong directional move back to Finchley Central to allow the train from Mill Hill East to continue to Finchley Central, an emergency preventative move that could only be carried out by a driver up-front in the cab.

Tube Bosses Implement New Harassment Procedure With No Mention Of Right To a Rep

We note the report from our Regional Organiser. London Underground has now implemented this procedure, and while it improves on the previous procedure in some respects, it does not include the right to representation for those accused of bullying and/or harassment from the start of the process, despite RMT and all other recognised unions taking the position that it should.

We maintain our position on this and will pursue it through appropriate channels.

London Transport Regional Council and branches to be advised.

RMT To Pursue Dispute Over Central Line 'Authoritarian Disciplinary Regime'

We note the resolution from our Central Line East branch, which we understand is also supported by our trains representatives in Central Line West branch. We share our branches’ alarm at the deterioration of industrial relations on the Line, including abuses of procedures, safety concerns, and an authoritarian disciplinary regime.

In line with our branches’ request, we instruct the General Secretary to contact London Underground Ltd as a matter of urgency demanding a line meeting, to include all our Central line trains representatives (health & safety and industrial relations).

Tube Review of Disciplinary and Grievance Procedures

We instruct the lead officer to arrange a meeting with our representatives who attend the Attendance, Performance and Conduct Joint Working Party (ensuring that all functions are involved), to discuss this and other relevant matters. A report of this meeting is to be placed in front of us.
