RMT sets out ABM cleaners' demands

Dear colleague,

RATES OF PAY & CONDITIONS OF SERVICE 2022 - ABM (LUL CONTRACT) (LUL/0001/ABM)

Further to my previous Circular (IR/135/22, 28th June 2022), this matter has been considered by the National Executive Committee and in line with its decision, I have advised the Company that unless the following demands are met, a dispute situation will exist between us and this Union will not hesitate to initiate a ballot for strike action:-

  • A minimum wage of £15 per hour
  • Full contractual sick pay from day one
  • Staff travel facilities equivalent to those provided to TfL staff
  • An acceptable pension
  • Agreed minimum staffing levels across the contract

The London Transport Regional Council is also re-launching its Cleaning Grades Committee on Thursday 25th August and all Branches and the LTRC are encouraged to assist with any relevant loss of earnings incurred by ABM cleaner members.

I have advised ABM that we are available for talks to avoid a dispute and I will keep Branches advised of all further developments.

Yours sincerely,

Michael Lynch

General Secretary
