RMT seeks absolute guarantee on member's jobs as TfL negotiates emergency loan with government

RMT Regional Organiser John Leach has written to London Underground Managing Director Andy Lord to seek an 'absolute guarantee' that the jobs of members at TfL / LUL will not be affected by any emergency budget settlement reached with the government.

The letter

Subject: TfL Finances impact on Employees, Jobs and conditions of employment

Dear Andy

Yesterday at the M.D. summit it was reported that the negotiations with the government for a grant to cover TfL’s £600 million monthly loss of income are very challenging and the deadline is very close. It was reported to us that should an emergency budget have to be applied it could result in dramatic and drastic cuts.

I seek on behalf of RMT an absolute guarantee that my members and TfL / LUL employees in all grades : Terms & conditions , jobs, number of employees and well being will not be effected in any way by either an emergency budget or settlement with the government on TfL finances

I have had to report this matter to my members and we seek your most urgent reply to this matter.

Thanks John
