NON-PAYMENT OF WAGES DURING LU INDUSTRIAL ACTION, CLEANERS - ABM (LU CONTRACT) (LUL/9/18)
The following resolution has been received from the London Transport Regional Council:
“This branch notes: - on the week of 7th to 11th September when the LU strikes were on, ABM cleaners were not able to work at their designated stations - as a result our managers decided to list us as absent and not pay us.
This branch believes: - this is totally unfair and cleaners should've been paid - if there's not work out there for them it's not their fault.
This branch resolves: - to fight for ABM to pay their staff fully when there's no work due to strikes - to commit to rallying all other branches to campaign around anything relating to the cleaners - facilitate paid release (loss of earnings) of an ABM Representative to collect and collate information about how many members are impacted, and to report back to Region.
Please support this motion. Cleaners are human beings who need money to feed their families.”
This matter has been considered by the National Executive Committee, which has instructed me to act in accordance with the decision, and I will keep Branches advised of all further developments.
