RMT calls on London mayor to ensure cleaners wages are paid

Subject: NON-PAYMENT OF WAGES – PREMIER WORK SUPPORT (ABM CONTRACT)

That we note the completely unacceptable treatment of our cleaner members; getting paid on time for work done is one requirement that is sacrosanct to all our members, and we will not allow this non-payment of wages to continue or responsibility for this to be avoided by Premier Work Support or ABM via some paper-thin manoeuvre, where each blame the other and our members rights fall down between the two!

We instruct the General Secretary to arrange a demonstration against ABM’s shoddy practices to increase the pressure on the company to resolve these issues, and to contact all LU reps to encourage them to talk to cleaners in their local area to establish how many have been affected by non-payment of wages.

Further, we instruct on the General Secretary to write to the Mayor of London to demand that he steps in to immediately address this, by calling on ABM and Premier Work Support to pay all outstanding wages and establish proper procedures so this scandal is not repeated.

Members to be advised by email and text.

Relevant branches and the London Transport Regional Council to be advised.
