FEBRUARY’S RESOLUTIONS

G20 demonstration

  • The union nationally and regionally has publicised the demo on Saturday 28 March widely; we expect a good turnout!
  • Other protests during the week of the G20 have been publicised on our website and regional mailing.

Metronet Redundancies / Metronet & LUL Pay & Conditions / Request for Ballot (all taken together)

  • The ballot for industrial action was agreed by the General Grades Committee and is now in full swing.
  • The strike committee has been established and is meeting regularly, co-ordinating work to build the biggest possible Yes vote. The committee’s secretary is Andy Littlechild.
  • A protest was held on Friday 20 March, the day ballot papers were to go out. 50+ people attended; leaflets were given to admin staff. Unfortunately, RMT did not send out a press release about this as planned. The Regional Executive will discuss further protests.
  • A banner has been made for display on the front of Unity House, reading STOP LONDON TRANSPORT JOB CUTS Workers and Passengers Should Not Pay for the Bosses’ Crisis, and with the RMT logo and regional website address.
  • Reps and activists have produced lots of leaflets/notices. Download them here.
  • Check the latest news on the dispute here.

  • The Regional Council Executive agreed that Becky Crocker will be our delegate to the Youth Fight for Jobs conference.

  • We now have a ‘website team’ responsible for running the site.
