LONDON UNDERGROUND’S BREACHES OF CASUALISATION DISPUTE SETTLEMENT

From General Secretary Bob Crow

Further to my previous letter where we called LU members to take industrial action short of a strike, your Executive Committee has decided to call additional action in our dispute over Casualisation.

By now you will be well aware of the background to this dispute. LUL have broken the agreement we made 4 years ago that only staff that were fully trained to CSA level would work on stations and therefore count towards minimum staffing levels. Instead of honouring this agreement they have decided to flagrantly break it and now use ICSAs towards minimum levels. We firmly believe this is unsafe, as ICSAs are not fully familiarised or trained to CSA level and, further, undermines jobs. We cannot allow them to continue in this way so it has been decided to call an additional form of action and this is outlined below.

With effect from 00.01 hrs Tuesday 14th August 2012, until further notice: -

Train Operator and Instructor Operator members are instructed not to stop at any station if despatch is carried out by staff that are not trained, qualified and licensed to CSA level in all aspects of their duty.

I hope you will to continue with your support for our campaign to defend jobs, safety and our hard fought agreements. We cannot allow LUL to continue to undermine jobs and safety.
