From General Secretary Bob Crow
Rates Of Pay & Conditions Of Service 2011 – Initial (LUL Contract) & Rates Of Pay & Conditions Of Service 2012 – ISS (LUL Contract)
As you may be aware, RMT members working for both Initial and ISS on London Underground have recently been balloted for strike action and industrial action short of a strike. This dispute is over the fact that these members who provide a vital service on London Underground are constantly exploited by these Companies
RMT cleaners will be holding a protest joined by General Secretary Bob Crow outside of Stratford Station at midday on the day of the Olympic Opening Ceremony - 27th July.
Cleaners will be protesting for a London Living wage and Olympic Bonus. These are the workers who will be clearing up after up to a million extra passengers have travelled each day on London's public transport during the Olympic period.
We note our Regional Organiser’s report recommending acceptance of this recognition
agreement, and accordingly instruct the General Secretary to ensure that this agreement is
signed and put into practice.
London Transport Regional Council and branches to be advised.

The regional BEM have requested that the union make available the RMT ‘Rail Cleaner Charter’, of which there are limited copies, until we get more printed please see and pass around the attached digital version or see: http://www.rmt.org.uk/Shared_ASP_Files/UploadedFiles/EEF98ADF-817B-49D0-...
The RMT is demanding that the cleaners, who do some of the dirtiest jobs often in appalling conditions to keep the tube running, should receive in return:
RAIL UNION RMT today announced that it has secured the latest in a line of Olympics bonus payments – this time a breakthrough-deal for cleaners working on the Virgin/Alstom West Coast Cleaning Contract for VOITH industrial services.
The agreement – covering the Olympics and Paralympics period – means that all hourly paid staff will receive a bonus payment of £400.
RMT General Secretary Bob Crow said:
TRANSPORT UNION RMT said this morning that support from cleaners for a 48 hour strike against poverty pay and the victimisation of a colleague on the Tyne and Wear Metro, which started last night, is rock solid with pickets and protesters out in force at key points.
Talks have recently been held between the RMT and Sodexo. The company have committed to agree a voluntary recognition deal with the RMT if over 50% of Sodexo workers join the union. The RMT is the only union campaigning for Sodexo canteen workers.
