Machinery Of Negotiation Review Update

We note that further talks have taken place on this matter, and that the employer has drafted proposed constituencies.

We further note the request from the employer for our membership numbers. We authorise the lead officer to provide these numbers through an appropriate method, for example through the auspices of ACAS. We require and expect the company to reciprocally provide us with the numbers of employees in each of its proposed constituencies.

Reports and developments to be placed in front of us.

Blog: Confessions Of A Train Operator On Temporary Alternative Duties

If the company press machine is to be believed, stations and in particular the stations on the outskirts of the underground network are ghost stations. Whereby there is very little need for station staff, staff there sit around drinking tea and watch Jeremy Kyle all day. Customers come and go as they please using all this wonderful modern technology such as etop up; wide aisle gates and help points. No need for station staff they say.

Reports To London Transport Regional Council Meeting April 2013

At this month's London Transport Regional Council Meeting, reports were given by our Executive member Janine Booth and Regional Organiser John Leach.

These are just notes of the areas discussed - to find out more, have a look through this site, speak to your local rep and do your best to attend branch meetings and the LTRC meeting which is held on the last Thursday of each month except June and December.

Meeting Agenda

Thermal Comfort Survey - The Results

Last month RMT Health & Safety representative Julie Miller surveyed station staff, asking about the effects of working in cold weather and the mitigation offered.

Nearly 700 people responded - around half station assistants (CSA's), a third station supervisor's and the remainder Revenue Control Inspectors and ticket office workers (SAMFs).

Tube Bosses Refuse To Uphold "No Compulsory Redundancies" Agreement

We note the report from our lead officer.

We deplore the stated intention of the employer to refuse to:

  • allow transferring staff to join the TfL Pension Scheme;
  • uphold the settlement of the 2001 PPP dispute which includes ‘no compulsory redundancies’ and explicitly applies to all employees and all future employers; and
  • recognise RMT in departments into which our members are transferring

In accordance with the request of our lead officer, we instruct the General Secretary to obtain legal advice on these matters, to uphold the rights of our members.

RMT To Pursue Call For Representation For Victims Of Bullying

We note the correspondence from London Underground Ltd, and regret the employer’s refusal to accept the reasonable demand of all trade unions that those accused of harassment and/or bullying should have the right to be represented from the beginning of the process.

We instruct the General Secretary to obtain and place in front of us a report on our options for pursuing this matter.

London Transport Regional Council and branches to be advised.

Action Plan In Place To Resolve Jubilee Dispute. Industrial Action 'Not Necessary'

We note the report from our lead officer, which confirms that following a meeting described by our representative as ‘positive’, there is an action plan to resolve the dispute and that industrial action will not be necessary.

This matter is to be placed back in front of us following the three-month review.

London Transport Regional Council and branches to be advised. Jubilee South branch to be advised by personal letter.
