The Night Tube Negotiations – An RMT Drivers’ Discussion Document

Since Mayor Johnson first announced his plans to introduce Night Tube (NT) on Fridays and Saturdays back in November 2013, the question in every mess room and canteen has been about how, exactly, is it going to work? Whilst business leaders hailed the opportunity to “boost businesses, jobs and leisure opportunities in London’s vibrant night-time economy” drivers just wanted to know if it would be safe and how we will be fairly compensated for the increasingly anti-social working hours.

Dispute Materials: Reinstate Clara

Clara Osagiede, RMT cleaners’ secretary on London Underground, has been dismissed from her job for the crime of fighting for workplace justice for London’s transport cleaners.

Bosses at Interserve – a private contractor that LU use for cleaning – concocted a series of spurious charges in order to get rid of an activist who is a thorn in their side.

Interserve is a company with an appalling record on industrial relations across all their contracts in the railway industry which exploits their low-paid workers for as much profit as they can.

Mayor Boris Johnson and tube bosses plan to close the ticket office at Bermondsey station and cut frontline staff. This is a busy station with a vital ticket office which serves both local residents and those coming into the area to work, It also provides vital information and assistance to elderly and disabled passengers helping them to use London Underground.

Planned Ticket Office Closure Date - 29th March

Staff cuts planned locally including Bermondsey - 30%

We are protesting and taking action to stop the cuts from happening.

We Will Oppose Cuts By All Means - Including Industrial Action

RMT To Monitor Tube Crowding As Child Falls Beneath Train In Shocking Incident

Transport union RMT said today that it is step up the independent monitoring of crowding and safety on both rail and tube after a child fell between a train and the platform at Baker Street yesterday afternoon in the latest shocking incident that raises serious questions about the safety of passengers while top transport bosses repeatedly ignore union warnings.

Yesterday's incident at Baker Street follows the horrific events at Clapham South last week when a woman was dragged under a train, the continuing chaos at London Bridge and major incidents at Oxford CIrcus and Brixton.
