Oyster Card Proposed Minimum £5 Top-Up LUL

From RMT official circular IR/86/09, dated 17th March 2009

I have been informed that LUL are trialling a minimum £5 Oyster top – up. LUL are stating that this is to help commuters to speed up their journey and shorten queues.

RMT’s view is that this is clearly targeted at poor people including pensioners and the unemployed.

While claiming to be an attempt to cut queues it is in fact part of an attempt to find ways of reducing the services to passengers and to undermine ticket offices.

Yours Sincerely

Bob Crow General Secretary

LUL Disciplinary Hearings

From RMT official circular IR/86/09, dated 17th March 2009

It has come to my attention that LUL management have changed the way they conduct disciplinary hearings (CDIs). They have started to routinely involve a PMA, or People Management Advisor to the CDI. In our view the PMA is not independent but is part of the Management team. This effectively adds a third person to the disciplinary panel and is therefore outside the LUL disciplinary procedure as well as a change to existing practices.

Dear Comrades

Although this is a situation that may be completely new to a lot of you, because of TfL’s total intransigence on this year’s pay claim and the spectre of thousands of job cuts over the next couple of years, the RMT in support of its members has taken the decision to ballot for industrial action.

This decision has not been taken lightly. It is the culmination of many branch meetings across TfL, and following management and Trade Union meetings at the company council.

Vote YES - Every Vote Counts!

This leaflet is aimed at all members involved in the current dispute over pay, job security and management persecution of staff. Click '1 attachment'/file name to download it. Read the text below.

It also reports on the pressure managers are putting on ticket sellers, advises members to submit grievances against snow day deductions, outlines the process for lifting the limit on transfer and promotion nominations and celebrates a victory for common sense and RMT!

Metronet Boss Spills The Beans - Our Pay To Be Cut?!

Top LUL/Metronet boss Paul Tullet made a statement at the Metronet LUL Company Council on Friday 13 March which shows just what we are up against and why everyone must vote yes in the coming ballot for industrial action. At this meeting, management tabled the same 5-year pay offer that management of the rest of LUL had previously tabled - RPI plus 1% for '09 followed by RPi plus 0% for the following 4 years.

That is quite bad enough - a year-on-year real-terms pay cut - but Mr Tullet then went on to say ...

RMT Executive Decision to Ballot

Below is the decision made by RMT's Executive to ballot members on London Underground for industrial action. The Executive made a separate decision to ballot TfL members about jobs and pay.
