Subject: EXTENDED TRAIN PREPERATION SCHEDULE – LONDON UNDERGROUND

That we note the report from our Lead Officer regarding the request from our LU Fleet Branch for industrial action due to the planned imposition of vastly inferior; bordering on non-existent safety checks on trains before they enter passenger service, which is solely for the purpose of implementing the Conservative Government’s Department for Transport and the London Mayors cuts to London Underground.

Meeting report: Mass members' meeting plans fightback

RMT reps and activists came together for a mass meeting at the Indian YMCA on Fitzroy Square on 24 April, to discuss three major disputes facing London Underground workers: against cuts to train maintenance (“extended train prep”); against job cuts (“Transformation”); and on pay, terms, and conditions.

Industrial action called in 'Train Prep' dispute

Subject: EXTENDED TRAIN PREPARATION SCHEDULE – LONDON UNDERGROUND

That we note the decision of the LU Fleet Branch meeting and their concerns around both training candidates and trainers being forced to undertake training to do the before; resulting in our loyal members refusing to break a strike and being locked out of work without any pay by the company.

TUBE UNION RMT confirmed today that over a thousand key London Underground maintenance and engineering staff have voted by around nine to one for both strike action and action short of a strike in a dispute over the hacking back of train preparation and inspection schedules which the union warns would have a devastating impact on both service reliability and public safety.

The staff work at tube fleet maintenance depots right across Greater London.
