Film and discussion night - includes films about Tube strikes

Next Reel News / Hackney Solidarity Network documentary film and discussion night! Sunday September 13th 7pm - 10 pm @ The MOTH, Vallette Street Hackney

Not only have we documentaries this night, we are hosting the Hackney book launch for local resident, tenants, HSN and RMT actvist, Janine Booth. Her new book, Guilty and Proud of It! is about the Poplar Councillors who in 1921 were sent to prison fighting for their poor borough (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Guilty-Proud-Poplars-Councillors-Guardians/dp/08...). Come and hear her talk about it, and she has some original film from then, and buy the book from her, and not from Amazon!!

Then we have films on the current RMT tube workers dispute, a film about the the most militant group of workers in Argentina, the Buenos Aires tube workers, demanding a 6 hour day on the same wages and conditions as for an 8 hour day - and winning! "Argentina: Tube Workers Fight For A 6 Hour Day (Grupo Alavio) and film from a recent miners gala with (ex) miners including Arthur Scargill and Dave Douglas, reflecting on the Miners Strike 25 years on.

As always there will be plenty of time for questions and discussions on these films as well as any other issues that come up!! Last time we had over 30 people so get there early for the best seats! Full disabled access, cheap beer, smoking outside but sorry no children though possiblity of creche in future.
