Stratford no.1 Branch Minutes: Thursday 12th February 2009

3. January Minutes

• Number of branch committee members was counted wrong at AGM, 8 instead of 7. Branch agreed to have 8 members for this year.
• Another AGM delegate, Janine nominated V. Thomas, A. Thomson 2nd.

4. Recruitment and Retention: 2 joined, 7 left & 1 transferred to another branch.

5. Regional organiser gave a report on East London line agreement, displacement threat at Leytonstone, proposed job cuts by LUL & sacked CBS member Brendan Judge.

6. Regional organiser answered questions from the floor.

7. Trains functional Rep V. Thomas spoke about Ambient listening devices.

8. Stations functional Rep J. Booth spoke about booking office staff being encouraged to tell customers to buy their Oyster cards from outlets other than booking offices.

9. Correspondence : 7 items of correspondence as in minute book.

10. Motions: Unjum asks the branch for a donation on behalf of the Waterford crystal workers. Branch agreed £200

11. Resolutions : There was 4 Resolutions. 3 for AGM (on defending ourselves from the economic crisis, MFA/Attendance policies and Israel/Gaza) & 1 for the Women’s conference (calling for an RMT women's newsletter. Branch discussed and agreed all 4.

12. Delegates Reports: Young members Becky Crocker & James Wong spoke about encouraging more young members to come along to branch meetings and get more involved. Membership secretary to liaise with Becky about getting in contact with our young members.

13. Reps Reports : Glenn and Dick reported on the new training room at Hainault. There are a few H&S issues that still have not been dealt with.

• Leytonstone Local Election boxes arrive. Branch agreed to continue the meeting downstairs where the official count would take place.
• Branch agrees that a Committee Meeting should be arranged within the next 2 weeks.
• Workplace Ballot boxes opened and counted by S. Hedley & V. Thomas. Verified by Dick Millhouse.
• Results are as follows. H&S results: Glenn Brown 62, Matt Minter 11. Newly elected H&S rep is Glenn Brown
• Industrial relations rep results : Den Fitzpatrick 41, Mick McDonnell 8, Allan Thomson 66, Gary Weston 27. Newly elected reps are Den Fitzpatrick & Allan Thomson.
