Solidarity with Pete Randle

RMT members working in the London Transport Region are appalled to learn of the suspension by Coventry City Council of Unite trade union rep Pete Randle. This is the latest attempt at union busting by a council happy to blow nearly £3m on scabs and strike breaking rather than settle a pay claim that would cost around a tenth of that sum; £300,000.

Pete is one of 75 Unite refuse workers on all out strike since Jan 31st.

We likewise face a Labour administration doing the Tories’ dirty work and attempting to slash jobs, agreements and pensions rather than tackle a Tory government for adequate funding.

We call on council leader George Duggins to end Pete’s suspension and pay the HGV drivers the rate immediately.

Full solidarity to Pete Randle and his fellow Unite members; your fight is our fight.
