NEC decisions on disabled members' resolutions

Seven resolutions were passed on from DMAC to the NEC from their last meeting (you can read them here).  The following reports from the Equal Rights Sub-Committee were noted and adopted by the National Executive Committee (24th July 2020):

 

DISABLED MEMBERS IN SCOTLAND

 

      “That we note the resolution but feel that it is a matter for the Regional Council to consider whether they wish to create such forums to organise disabled members, and other groups, under their organising remit."

 

REFLECTION ROOMS

 

      “We instruct the General Secretary to take up in line with all companies as part of their well-being programmes.

         

DISABLED PASSENGERS AND TIMETABLE CHANGES

 

      “We instruct the General Secretary to write to the responsible industry bodies to bring this issue to their attention.

 

CENTENARY OF THE BLIND PEOPLE’S MARCH

 

      “We instruct the General Secretary to take up in line with the resolution.

 

CONFERENCE CHAIR’S EXPENSES

 

      “We note the resolution but decline the request.

 

COVD-19, DISABLED MEMBERS AND CARERS

 

      “We note the resolution and the sentiments therein and confirm this union will continue to campaign in support of disabled members in relation to the issues raised.

 

ONLINE TRAINING ON DISABILITY

 

      “We note the resolution and also that the union is creating online courses within the resources available.  We are also in the process of reopening the Doncaster Education Centre to revive the education programme based there as soon as possible.
