RMT says Johnson speech on high skill, high wage workforce a million miles from the reality of pay freezes, exploitation and skills shortages that threaten transport services

General Secretary Mick Lynch said;

“Its hypocrisy in the extreme for the prime minister to talk about a high wage economy when he is imposing pay freezes across the public services including large parts of the transport sector.

"The exploitation of seafarers is still rife and the twin evils of skills shortages and low pay are leading to an exodus of bus driver’s, threatening local services.

"National insurance is up, inflation is up and it’s time the prime minister stepped up, called off the freeze and gave Britain's key workers the pay rise they deserve."
