Oyster Card deposit change and workplace violence

In a recent incident at Dagenham Heathway, a customer smashed the SCP window with a bike lock. This is one of many reports we have received of physical and verbal
assaults on staff directly relating to the oyster card
deposit being withdrawn.

What this means in simple terms is, people who have purchased an oyster card on or after the 23rd February can no longer get their fiver back as it is now a non-
refundable charge.

RMT to hold protest against workplace violence on London Underground

London Underground union RMT will be holding a demonstration tomorrow outside Transport for London’s offices as part of its campaign to highlight the company’s continuous failure to take proper steps to address the issue of workplace violence faced by London Underground station grade members.

The protest will take place on Tuesday 21st January 2020 between 13.30-15.30 to coincide with the next meeting of the LUL Workplace Violence Group at Palestra House, 197 Blackfriars Road, London SE1 8NJ.

District line workplace violence dispute update

Update following our directors meeting regarding the District Line dispute:

We are deeply concerned and disappointed by what the company have offered us in response to the shocking rise in workplace violence which has forced us to take industrial action.

What they have offered us is a strategic and tactical mistake, which won’t solve the problem - in fact it will make it worse.

LU’s response in brief:

They will continue working with their crime reduction team to tackle the worst affected areas (they should be doing this already)

RMT Begins Strike Ballot On London Midland Over Member Victimised For Resisting Assault

RAIL UNION RMT confirmed today that a ballot for both strike action and action short of a strike has opened on London Midland over the victimisation of a Revenue Protection Officer sacked by the company for resisting a physical and verbal assault by a known troublemaker.
