PAY FRAMEWORK – LONDON TRANSPORT MUSEUM (TfL/10/2)
Cleaners and porters at London Transport Museum are only on the minimum wage of £7.20 an hour, despite workers in the rest of Transport for London being paid at least the London Living Wage of £9.40 an hour. Museum management told local TSSA and RMT reps that they would pay the London Living Wage a year ago but still haven't done so.
We note the information on file regarding Mayor’s questions and the Early Day Motion on this issue.
We instruct the General Secretary to publish links to these on the union’s website, to email members asking them to encourage their MPs to sign the EDM, and in particular to ask those members of our Parliamentary group who have not yet signed the EDM to do so. We further instruct the General Secretary to ensure that cuts to the LT Museum are highlighted in our campaigning against the 12.5% funding cut to Transport for London.
A demonstration is being held to fight to stop the staff cuts at The London Transport Museum.
Whilst the museum holds an event - "Brightest London" it is dark days for the staff; as the face the threat of unemployment!
The London Transport Region's Executive Member has given a report to the London Transport region at the recent Regional Council.
For full details all RMT members are invited to come to the meeting.
Regional Council meetings are held at the Exmouth Arms near Euston Station at 1630 on the last Thursday of the month, except June and December.

This union completely rejects the proposal to reduce staffing at the London Transport Museum by six full-time-equivalent posts. We reiterate our opposition to all moves to cut jobs at this essential cultural and historical asset, whether the employer intends to achieve this through compulsory redundancy, voluntary severance or any other method.
Staff at the London transport Museum are fighting the loss of up to 9 posts at London Transport Museum. These figures were discovered by reps when presented as a part of a business case. This is an insult to those at risk of loosing their livelihood.
We are planning a raft of demos, lobbies and leafletting....can you help?
Demo
London Transport Museum - Stop the staff cuts!
17.00 - 18.30 Monday 25 March,
London Transport Museum, Covent Garden Piazza
Lobby
TfL Board - Have a heart - give back the grant. Stop the staff cuts!
We note the report of the discussion at our representatives’ meeting, and that we may expect an announcement of cuts very soon.
We resolve to step up this union’s campaigning against these cuts, and instruct the General Secretary to ensure a higher-profile RMT presence at protest events.
We oppose any cuts in jobs, and instruct the General Secretary to raise with the employer that vacancies in permanent posts should be filled rather than covered with agency or temporary staff.
Happy 150 birthday? Support staff at London Transport Museum - what you can do.
London Transport Museum is suffering from a reduction over four years of 25% of its grant from TfL - £1.5 million. The Museum is very successful at attracting funding and raising income from its shop, ticket sales, events and sponsorship, but the withdrawal of this grant (an eighth of total funding) has a significant impact at a time when arts funding has been drastically cut. The admission price has risen to £15 and staff, who have just been involved in the fabulous historic Tube 150 steam runs, now wait for news of another reorganisation.
London Transport Museum staff - RMT and TSSA members, are expecting news of redundancies any day now. We and calling for support at two City Hall lobbies to ask TfL to restore the £1.5 million cut from the museum!
