Detrainment ballot closes on 2nd of March

Our Ref: LUL/14/10

20th February 2023

DO NOT WASTE YOUR VOTE - VOTE 'YES' FOR STRIKE ACTION & ACTION SHORT

Dear Colleagues,

REMOVAL OF DETRAINMENT STAFF - LONDON UNDERGROUND

The closing date for the ballot is Thursday 2nd March, so if you haven't done so already, now is the time to vote. Due to balloting laws I cannot stress enough how important it is that you fill in your ballot paper and return it as quickly as possible.

If you have not received your ballot paper or know of a colleague who has not received it, please call us on 0800 376 3706 or e-mail info@rmt.org.uk as soon as possible.

IMPORTANT NOTE ON BALLOT THRESHOLDS

Since the Trade Union Act 2016 introduced even more restrictive anti-trade union laws, all ballots must meet a threshold where at least 50% of all eligible members must vote and 40% of all those eligible to vote must vote yes.

As a result of these draconian restrictions every single vote counts. A simple majority is no longer enough so you cannot rely on other colleagues to get the vote over the line.

Therefore, I urge you to complete and return your voting paper as soon as you receive it to demand that LUL withdraws its plans to remove detrainment staff. Please complete your ballot paper and make sure you return it by first post, Thursday 2nd March 2023.

Important Please Note:  The Scrutineer for RMT Ballots and Elections is 'CES' (Civica Election Services). Letters from Civica are not Junk Mail and should be opened.

Yours sincerely,

Michael Lynch
General Secretary
