Exceptionally Busy
This summer will see Tube staff of all grades working really hard to transport Londoners and visitors during the Olympic period. With the main venue being in Stratford, the Olympic Games Live Sites in Victoria Park and Hyde Park, and Marathon Swimming and Triathlon event in Hyde Park, the Central Line -our RMT branch’s area -is right at the heart of it.

London Underground’s truculent management regime is now threatening train operators with disciplinary action for taking “too many” PNRs.
Local managers across LUL have been instructed to create an EIRF each time a train operator takes a personal needs relief and these are then recording on personal files. On the H&C line a T/Op has been threatened with disciplinary action.

Stratford No.1 branch have devised a recruitment plan. It details how the branch have agreed to monitor and increase membership numbers. The Regional Councils recruitment plan for 2010 urges and supports branches to outline a plan to both monitor membership numbers and organise recruitment.

RMT Reps Discuss Central Line Asbestos Fears

We note that the meeting referred to in our decision of 6 October 2011 has yet to take place, due to the representatives not having been available. We instruct the General Secretary to write to Stratford no.1 branch advising that unless the representatives make themselves available soon, we will be unable to progress this matter; and to invite LU Engineering branch to send an appropriate representative to this meeting. A report of the meeting is to be placed in front of us once it has taken place.

With 44 years service and only 13 working days until his retirement, Steve Hover, a respected and well-liked Loughton driver, was summoned to attend a Local Disciplinary Interview (LDI) for infringing LUL’s punitive sickness policy, and given a vindictive 23-week warning.

RESOLUTION TO RMT WOMEN’S CONFERENCE: SINDYANNA
We support the work of Sindyanna, the women workers’ cooperative associated with the Workers’ Advice Centre (Maan) in Galilee.
We ask the union to promote its activities and products, and to investigate the possibilities of including Sindyanna products carrying the RMT logo in the union’s range of merchandise.
