Training: Producing a Workplace RMT Newsletter

To all RMT workplace representatives

Want to communicate more effectively with the RMT members you represent? Want to be able to report back on negotiations and other union duties, explain how management's latest plans affect your particular workplace, put together an attractive newsletter? Maybe you understand the importance of effective printed material but feel you don't have the skills to do it yourself?

Now is the chance to learn! There will be a training day for reps to learn how to produce effective printed material for your workplace on Tuesday 30 March, running from 10am until 3pm. On this day, you will learn what makes an effective newsletter or report, what are the important things to communicate to your members, how to achieve the look that you want, and how to use text and graphics to maximum effect. You will end the day having produced a newsletter ready to give out at work, and able to produce further issues in the future.

We have run this training day previously, with great success. More local reps are producing newsletters than ever before, and RMT would like to see even more of you doing so! London Underground has previously agreed that reps can have unpaid release to attend (subject to coverage!), and I expect that other employers would take the same view.

There are 12 places on the training day, which will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis. Lunch will be provided.

If you would like to attend the training, please email Janine Booth as soon as possible.
