Cancelled: Join the demo at City Hall against London Underground safety-critical cuts plan

Important demonstration at City Hall against London Underground safety-critical cuts to fleet preparation schedules  - 09:00 Thursday 16th May

Dear colleague,

As an RMT London Underground member, you'll most likely be aware that your colleagues in London Underground maintenance and engineering recently voted overwhelmingly in favour of strike action in relation to proposed safety critical cuts.

The nine to one vote for action is due to London Underground's plans to significantly change fleet preparation schedules. The proposals would decimate the inspection schedule and inevitably lead to more train failures in service - putting increased pressure on staff across London Underground and passengers and staff at increased risk.

Three days' strike action will commence at 07:00 on Friday 17th May.

In preparation for this, a demonstration is taking place on Thursday 16th at City Hall at 09:00, to call on the Mayor and London Underground to halt these disastrous plans. All RMT London Underground members are urged to attend this demo. It's vital that we send a strong message to LUL and the Mayor that RMT members will not accept increased safety risks in an attempt to cut costs. More information is available on the RMT website event page https://www.rmt.org.uk/news/events/defend-tube-safety-demonstration/

Please do all you can to attend the demonstration and support your brothers and sisters taking action over these dangerous proposals.

Thank you

Yours sincerely,

Mick Cash
General Secretary
