Unemployment Rises to 2.6 Million

Responding to news that unemployment has risen by 128,000 to 2.638 million in the three months to October, RMT General Secretary Bob Crow said:

“These latest shocking figures show that all the Governments promises on jobs and apprenticeships are as hollow as a chocolate Father Christmas.

This ConDem government have sat back and done nothing while the gap between haves and have-nots in Britain has widened to record levels on their watch.

Nowhere is the Governments inaction and impotency more graphically illustrated than at Bombardier in Derby where their kow-towing to the EU and Siemens has left thousands of manufacturing jobs and apprenticeships on the block. They are a total disgrace. “

General Secretary Mick Cash said; "Our members from service control on the Waterloo and City Line are 100% united and solid in their action today as they fight for pay and grading justice. All they are asking for is to be treated the same as similar‎ staff elsewhere on the Underground. Their claim is for basic fairness.
General Secretary of largest rail union RMT, Mick Cash said: “This politically motivated stop-start approach to crucial rail developments is no way to run a transport system and it is no surprise to us that this U-turn comes in the run up to the Tory Party conference where RMT will be exposing the nonsense of the “Northern Powerhouse” as part of the mass demonstration in Manchester on Sunday.
