Train driver Davis ballot begins on 29th of August

DISMISSAL, D. DAVIS, TRAIN OPERATOR, LOUGHTON – LONDON UNDERGROUND (LUL/4/1)

The National Executive Committee has recently considered the case of Brother Danny Davis and taken the decision to conduct a ballot for strike action amongst all RMT Train Operators, Night Tube Train Operators and Instructor Operator members on the Central Line – Hainault, Leytonstone, Loughton, West Ruislip and White City Traincrew Depots.

This Union condemns the highhanded and overly severe treatment of Brother Davis by London Underground management. During the disciplinary process, many comparators of similar and even more serious PTI incidents where the Train Operator either had no action taken against them or a much more appropriate sanction were ignored. Mitigations contributing to Brother Davis’s incident around his wife’s ongoing illness and home life were also brushed over by management.

Brother Davis was a Train Operator at Loughton and had been employed by LUL for over 20 years with an unblemished record. It is the clear view of this Union that his dismissal was unfair. RMT members and local operations managers are rightly furious about this decision which is a further continuation of abuse of the disciplinary procedure in an increasingly common approach the Company is actively pursuing against RMT members.

Ballot papers will be posted to members on Tuesday 29th August 2017 and the closing date for the ballot is Tuesday 19th September 2017. If any member does not receive their voting paper, or you know of a colleague who has not received it, please call the freephone helpline on 0800 376 3706, RMT Head Office on 0207 387 4771 or e-mail info@rmt.org.uk to request a replacement.
