RMT to ballot members in defense of driver Danny Davis

DISMISSAL, D. DAVIS, TRAIN OPERATOR, LOUGHTON – LONDON UNDERGROUND (LUL/4/1)

The following resolution was recently received from our Central Line East Branch:-

“This Branch, Central Line East abhors the recent decision by LUL to sack our member Danny Davis. Danny Davis is a Train Operator at Loughton Depot, he has served LUL for 20 years and had an unblemished record. We can show that Danny has been treated differently to other Train Operators. We are disgusted at the harsh decision against Danny and we want to start the process immediately to ballot all the RMT Train Operator members at Loughton, Leytonstone and Hainault Train Depots. LUL management must be made aware that we intend to defend our members and that we are prepared to escalate this dispute to do so”.

This matter has been considered by the National Executive Committee, which has noted the resolution and the sentiment within and having received further information from the Branch regarding the case, has taken the decision to conduct a ballot of all Train Operator and Instructor Operator members at Loughton, Leytonstone and Hainault Traincrew Depots for strike action.

I have advised the Company that a dispute situation exists between us over this issue and am currently making preparations to conduct the ballot in line with the NEC decision. I will keep Branches advised of all further developments.
