RMT Agrees Bombardier Pay Offer

RATES OF PAY & CONDITIONS OF SERVICE 2015/2016 – BOMBARDIER TRANSPORTATION (SSR & VLU) TRAIN SERVICES TECHNICIANS (LUL/0001/BT(S&V)

In line with Union policy, a claim was submitted for a substantial increase in rates of pay and improvements to conditions of service. Following discussions, the Company has signed a Memorandum of Agreement for Train Services Technicians, including a pay offer in full and final settlement of the 2015 and 2016 pay review, effective from 1st May 2015.

Year One – effective 1st May 2015

  • A 3% increase on current salary making the rate for the job £45,320 per annum. Any employee starting after the date of an agreement being reached will be paid at the rate of £41,200 until successful completion of their probation and attainment of competencies.
  • Overtime to be paid at 1.33 (Monday – Friday) 1.5 (Saturday/Sunday).
  • House of Work – consultation will take place on a new roster to reduce the average hours of work per week to 40 hours from the current 42 hours. There is a commitment to reach an agreement and implement a new roster as soon as possible.

Year Two – effective 1st May 2016

  • A 3% increase on salary making the rate for the job £46,680 per annum. All employees starting after 1st May 2016 will be paid at the rate of £42,436 until successful completion of their probation and attainment of competencies.

In addition to the above formal agreement, the Company has offered a conciliatory gesture for the duration of this agreement and advised that Christmas Day 2015 and 2016 will be shown as a Rest Day for any TST that would ordinarily be rostered on shift. This concession would only be subject to re-negotiation should LUL change their current operational status and begin to run services on Christmas Day in the future. The Company will not consider any further increase in the TST annual leave allowance and all other terms and conditions remain unchanged.

This matter has been considered by the General Grades Committee, which has noted the recommendation of our Lead Officer and Representatives and taken the decision to inform the Company that we agree to sign off the memorandum. I am currently acting in accordance with this decision and have asked that the increase, along with backdated monies, is paid to members at the earliest opportunity.
